Went in search of ’Queen of the Night’ tulips for a client. Found them on a stall in Columbia Road market. They will spring up very erect and non-frilly early next year, an iridecsent black, making a real impact after a long cold winter. Funny to be thinking ahead to winter on a lovely summery day [...] Discovered a gorgeous blue star flower this week – Laurentia axillaris – perfect clump forming almost grass-like annual. Great as a low border plant, with twinkling slivers of blue flowers. They like heat apparently – I’ve planted them in strips along a high balcony in window boxes. Highly recommended. Has anyone else had any good [...] Too annoyed to speak. The garden designer I employed to lay a granite patio in my glorious back garden has bodged it up. I am embarrassed on behalf of my fellow tradespeople. What an unpleasant cretin he is. Grrr. I may name and shame him when this sorry episode is over. A day off at last. Cycled in the sun to nowhere in particular and a wonderful vivid green dragonfly landed on my forearm. Stayed with me for some time. Lovely. My day off So this is it… I have a new blog, which I’ll use to talk to about my gardening world. I’ll say what’s been happening lately and share some of my thoughts on these pages.
